Official Union of Writers recommends books to Lukashenka

Books published by members of the Union of Writers are not handed over to President Lukashenka. According to the head of the Union Syarhei Charhinets, is it a senseless thing to do because the leader of the state will not have enough time to read them.
Mikalai Charhinets: “We do not hand anything over to the President. The President receives a lot of books. When will he read them? I saw a pile of book that appeared in like eight or nine days, it was a meter high for sure. When will he read them?!”

At the same time, Mikalai Charhinets says that he sends reports about their work to the President’s Administration every year. They report how many books have been published and single out the ones that seem interesting to them.

They only send books to the President if their authors insist on it. However, Lukashenka does not receive them personally; they are sent to the President’s library. Charhinets did not specify whether the leader of the state read anything recommended by the Union or presented to him.
