OSCE has received invitation to observe elections, while CIS - not yet
The Office on Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of OCSE has received invitation of Belarus to observe the Presidential elections. This was informed to the European Radio for Belarus by the Press-Secretary of the Office Jens Eschenbaecher: "Yes, we have received an invitation. We are very grateful it came so early, as it gives us enough time to prepare for observation".
According to him, the ODIHR/OSCE is to send an estimation mission to the country first.The members of the mission will give recommendations on the format and quantity of the observing mission. Then OSCE countries will send observers.
Let us remind you, 546 short-term OSCE observers came to Belarus during the last Presidential elections. CIS (namely, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) accredited 467 people.

At the same time, representatives of CIS executive committee claimed they had not received any invitations yet. As soon as they get one, they will direct corresponding letters to CIS countries.
