Outstanding Belarusian football player dies
Valyantsin Byalkevich was only 41 when he died in Kiev on August 1, Pressball website reports.
Valyantsin Byalkevich was a four-time champion of Belarus and won Belarus Cup twice in FC Dynama-Minsk. He also won the Ukrainian championship seven times and Ukraine Cup – six times after his transfer to Kiev Dinamo.
Valyantsin Byalkevich played 56 matches and scored 10 goals in Belarus national team. He was one of the team’s leaders in the World Cup qualification in 2002 when our team almost managed to take the second position and failed to win the right to participate in the other matches.
He became the best football player in Belarus in 1995 and the best player of the Ukrainian championship in 2001.
A clot of blood was the reason for Valyantsin’s sudden death, the website of Kiev Dinamo reports. The date and place of the parting ceremony will be announced later.
