Brest Court to consider Zmitser Shurhai’s case today
The hearing of the case of activist of the Belarusian Christian Democratic Party Zmitser Shurhai will begin in Brest Moscow District Court at 9.30 a.m. today.
The court will consider the fact of the activist’s preventive detention before the silent action on June 28, 2011 and his 7-day arrest. Brest Moscow District Courts sentenced Shurhai to seven days of administrative arrest on June 29. However, Brest Province Court satisfied the activist’s complaint later and cancelled the sentence. The case was sent for further consideration. According to human rights activists, it is the first case connected with silent actions where the sentence was cancelled by the Province Court.
