Grammar school repairs stadium for 8 billion roubles
What do parents and the state pay for in schools and kindergartens?
Parents have to pay an extra 200 thousand roubles a year in Minsk kindergarten #527.
“The money is spent on toys and cosmetic repairs. The Department of Education provides us with soap and detergents. However, toilet paper in not on this list. It is usually bought by parents," the kindergarten administration told Euroradio.
The state pays for the repairs of verandas. 300 million roubles will be spent on 14 verandas. It means that one veranda will cost 2.5 thousand dollars.
Parents pay one "base amount" a year for the repairs of "school public places" in Minsk school #105.
“We have agreed that they will pay 100 thousands. The sum is approved by the school trustees council," the school administration explained.
Parents pay for classroom repairs in Minsk grammar school #14.
“The trustees council has advised that parents should donate one base amount. Classrooms are repaired with this money. School repairs are financed by the state. The reconstruction of our stadium will cost 8 billion roubles next year," the grammar school administration explained.

The Central District Department of Education assures that schools cannot force parents to pay. They can do so only if they want it:
“Parents can suggest raising money for anything. But not everyone may support them. Those who do not want to pay can refuse."
A 10th-former parents say that they pay about 100 dollars a year to cover school needs.
“It is done so that they organized excursions for children and repaired classrooms. It happens one a year and the money is spent on wallpapering and on the ceiling. That's about 50 dollars a year," says Iryna.
What will happen if parents do not buy toilet paper for the kindergarten? It will be bought with the help of extra-budget money, assures kindergarten #527.
