Radzina: Lithuanian deputies shocked at Byalyatski’s issue
A meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee is taking place in the Lithuanian Seimas. Natallya Radzina has made the opening speech.
Editor of the website “Charter’97” Natallya Radzina has described it to Euroradio on air.
She described her arrest after the events of December 19, 2010, the imprisonment and escape to Lithuanian MPs. Radzina noted that the unregistered human rights centre “Vyasna” has rendered major assistance to her and to the other political prisoners. According to her, the current arrest of the head of human rights defenders - Ales Byalyatski – jeopardizes all the political prisoners. It is a shame that these people have been deprived of support now, notes Radzina.
According to the journalist, the open part of the meeting consisted of her speech and answers to questions. Radzina noted that all the present members of the Seimas had apologized for Lithuania’s actions. They wondered what Belarusians’ attitude to Lithuania would be after the events. Minister of Justice Remigijus Šimašius present at the meeting listened to the speeches silently.
