UCP: More Belarus officials should be added to EU 'black list'

Chairman of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka told:

"We link this with the cases of missing politicians. We have now sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General and the head of the Investigatory Cmmittee requesting to provide us with confirmation that investigation is in progress. And the end of the day, they will send the case to the archives and throw it away next year. If we receive a formal reply, we will be able to file a petition to have [new Belarus officials] on the list."

Mr Lyabedzka adds that some of the KGB bosses - those not on the list yet - should also be on the 'black list' for having failed to return personal belongings to all of the participants of the Square 2010 street protests, confiscated on December 19, 2010.

The EU 'black list' contains 243 names - Belarusian officials, judges, law-enforcement officers, businessmen.
