Russia urges Belarus to investigate Regnum case ‘with all due responsibility'

The Russian MFA is keeping a close watch on the criminal case started against Dzmitry Alimkin, Yury Paulavets and Syarhei Shyptenka (pro-Russia Regnum authors) for arousing national hatred. The case has been sent to Minsk City Court. Russian MFA spokesperson Maria Zakharova has commented on the situation:
"We would like to urge Belarus to investigate this criminal case with all due responsibility according to Belarus’ commitments, especially the freedom of thought,” Zakharova said. The Russian MFA is aware of all the latest information as regards ‘Regnum case’, she added.
Regum authors Alimkin, Paulavets and Shyptenka were detained in Belarus on December 2016. They used pennames to publish articles about the situation in our country. The publicists are accused of arousing national, racial or religious hostility. Paulavets and Shyptenka are also accused of doing business illegally.
