Ales Lahvinets gets 10 days of arrest
Minsk's Maskouski District Court today sentenced Ales Lahvinets to 10 days of administrative arrest.
The opposition activist was severely beaten during detention on March 24 ahead of the Freedom Day rally on March 25. He was taken to court on the same day to stand trial on hooliganism charges. The hearing was postponed because Lahvinets needed medical emergency treatment. He was diagnozed with nose fracture, closed craniocerebral injury and concussion.
On March 27, riot police force members said in court that Lahvinets had allegedly cursed in a public place. When he was detained and placed into the vehicle, he allegedly began banging his head against the seat and thus caused head injuries.
