Alyaksandr Lukashenka to visit Azerbaijan

Alyaksandr Lukashenka is planning to negotiate with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Then they are planning to sign bilateral agreements on cooperation in various fields.

Azerbaijan is an important trade and economic partner for Belarus, BELTA notes. The countries’ turnover increased by six times in the past 6 years and totalled over $223 million last year.

Aliyev helped the Belarusian government in 2010 – he lent the country $200 million so that Belarus could pay Gazprom for gas.

By the way, head of the honorary company captain Karpovich greeted Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Ilham Aliyev in Belarusian during their official meeting in 2010. The moment was shown on TV with sound turned on for the first time (see video).
