On December 1, at the Kalinkavichy railway station in the Homiel region, a diesel locomotive driver noticed a man filming the overpass.

He passed the information to the paramilitary guards, who detained the man  who turned out to be a Japanese citizen. The arrested Japanese was handed over to KGB officers.

"At the time of publication we could not find out the name and surname of this citizen, as well as what happened to him," reports the Community of Railwaymen of Belarus.

Earlier, Belarus had detained a Japanese citizen who worked at Homiel State University and took a lot of photos in Belarus. Masatoshi Nakanishi was accused of being an agent. Human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner.
