Art Siadziba director Pavel Belavus gets 15 days of arrest for 'public swearing'
Art Siadziba director Pavel Belavus was arrested for 15 days after a district court in Minsk on Monday found him guilty of petty hooliganism - public swearing.
Belavus was detained on Sunday March 26 in the center of Minsk during an action of solidarity with the people detained on Freedom Day, March 25.
The trial lasted several hours. Belavus succeeded in convincing the judge to watch the video of his detention. The riot police force member who acted as witnesses in court could not be seen in the video. They said they had passed information about Belavus on to their fellow officers but later forgot about it. The policeman Siarhei Mironchyk, the witness, also said he did not remember if he introduced himself to Belavus.
