EHU students protest against Grybauskaitė’s statement in Vilnius
Students of European Humanities University organized a spontaneous protest action in Daukantas Square in Vilnius on November 12. The reason for it was the statement pronounced by the Lithuanian President in Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s support.
Let us remind you that mass media distributed Grybauskaitė’s personal statement that Lukashenka’s victory at the election would secure stability in Belarus and limit Russia’s influence in this country.
BelaPAN informs that Belarusian students studying in Lithuania were surprised at such statements and decided to conduct a protest action. Its participants – five students – were holding posters with the following inscriptions in Lithuanian: “We do not want this stability”, “Ms. Dalia, is it true?”, “Has real politics defeated humane politics?” and “Is trade deficit turning into value deficit?”. The protesters spent about 15 minutes near the President’s Administration.
EHU students are planning to reach an agreement with Lithuanian democratic, non-governmental organizations to organize a more serious action and to receive a comment or explanation from the Lithuanian President.
