Lithuania hopes PM Rumas will attend Kastus Kalinouski's reburial

The Vilnius authorities are hoping that Belarusian Prime Minister Siarhei Rumans will attend the reburial of the January Uprising (1863-1864) participants including the national hero of Belarus Kastus Kalinouski. The ceremony will be held in the Lithuanian capital in November. The insurgents will be reburied at the cemetery Rasos in Vilnius. The inscriptions on the graves will be in Belarusian.
Polish President Andrzej Duda has been invited to attend the ceremony, Delfi reports. A Belarusian governmental delegation has also been invited. Latvia and Ukraine will be represented on a lower level. The exact date will be announced later. It depends on the preparation work in the cemetery Rasos (the reburial place).
The remains of the insurgents were discovered on the hill upon which Gediminas' Tower stands. The Russian authorities secretly buried the bodies there shortly after the execution. Kastus Kalinouski’s remains have been 95% identified. To dispel doubts, Kastus Kalinouski’s brother Viktar was exhumed in Svislac, Belarus.
