Lukashenka on Eurasian economic deal: Several problems put off for later
Belarus today signed the Eurasian Economic Union Agreement in Astana.
The three member states will guarantee free movement of goods, services, capitals and labour force and conduct a coordinated policy in the key economic industries. The agreement will come into force on January 1, 2015.
"Belarus has signed this global document today,” Lukashenka said. He reminded about ‘very complicated negotiations and the fact that ‘not everyone has signed it – we have lost Ukraine’.
"A number of problems affecting trade in the first place have been put off for a long time,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka claimed. He meant the issues Belarus had intended to solve. However, it looks like it has not been done yet. Lukashenka explained: “I hope that our work will not stop... the agreement is not the end of the process... it is the beginning of a serious process.”
"We believe that the economic union will be the basis of our political, military and humanitarian unity,” the Belarusian President said.
Armenia will join the Eurasian Economic Union in June and Kyrgyzstan – by the end of 2015, Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
