Driver who killed boy jailed for 4 years
Andrei Zababura's driver's license was cancelled for 5 years, and school administration was obliged to fix situation with traffic movement around the school.
This
decision was taken by the Frunzenski district court of Minsk.
The driver's lawyer said he did not agree
with the verdict and would appeal it.
The victims did not express their position.
The tragedy took place on November 13, 2012.
9-year-old Uladzislau Hruzdzeu was playing catch-up with his friends after lessons (the third-grader studied in the
second shift) near the school building. The boys were running after
each other. At some point, Uladzislau
ran to the traffic way and got under the wheels of Andrei Zababura’s car.
Zababura wasn’t detained after the accident. He called the police and
reported the tragedy, said that it
was he who was driving the car,
which ran over Uladzislau Hruzdzeu.
He also paid the family
of the schoolboy 200 million roubles.
Later, the driver was placed into custody. Judge
Julia Bliznyuk explained
it by the fact that Zababura "failed to fulfill the duties entrusted to him by the investigation."
