Alyaksandr Lukashenka: "According to the rating of the United
Nations, we got to the top 50 countries in the world on the Human Development Index. This is the best result among the CIS
countries. The index which we
do not define."
According to the United Nations rating,
Belarus is ranked
50th, being ahead of, for example, Panama and Brazil, where the economy develops very
well, but there are still not enough social programs for the poor. Neighboring Lithuania and Latvia,
often criticized by the Belarusian
ideologists for the high prices and the collapse of the industry, have much better results than Belarus.
