More than 1700 people detained for 5 "silent actions"
Human rights defenders claim such a number.
They calculated the number of detainees at the actions which took place all over the country on June 15, 22 and 29, and July 3 and 6. About 1000 people were detained in Minsk, and about 750 - in other cities of Belarus.
The majority of detainees were punished with arrests and fines, the web-site "Viasna" notes. Many people were released without charges after they'd submitted their fingerprints, many people were beaten.
The trials are held in a closed regime, lists of detainees and convicts are not disclaimed. Thus, human rights defenders do not have complete information in this regard.
