Apart from this, it is planned to conduct scientific conferences dedicated to the rebellion of 1863, to publish the archive memories of the participants of the rebellion, re-decorate their graves etc. According to Alyaksandr Milinkevich, this is all because the topic of Kastus Kalinouski's rebellion is a very hot one today.

Alyaksandr Milinkevich: "Everything they fought for is still important today, it's all the same. We lack freedom, our independence is under a serious threat. So much time passed but the Belarusians still struggle for survival of their nation, of their state".

The year of Kalinouski, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu adds, has been announced for the contemporary youth in the first place, as they are taught an absolutely different image of the leader of the 1863 rebellion - not a hero of Belarus.

Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu: "The first thing which unites a nation is realizing that there is something and someone to lean on. And what do we have again? An artificial modern pro-Lukashenka historian wrote that Kalinouski was not a Belarusian, first, and was not a hero, secondly. Moreover, this disgraceful article was disseminated in schools as extracurricular reading and the high school students in almost every school were forced to write essays on this in the context of the idea expressed by that so-called historian".

A nation, the poet-politician says, cannot feel as a true one without recognized national heroes.

Euroradio has found out that they prepared an appeal to the Council of Ministers and the National Assembly of Belarus, as well as to the governments and parliaments of Poland and Lithuania with a suggestion to mark the rebellion's date at the high governmental level. After that, they will address to all executive committees asking to give Kalinouski's name to one of the streets in every district, every city. They will address with such a request even to the administrations of Moscow and St.Petersburg. They will ask if not to name a street in honour of the hero who got his education there but at least to install memorial shields in the corresponding places.

The documentary movie "Kastus" is no longer just an idea - the script is ready. Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu doesn't say who wrote it and who will be the director. Surely it's not him. However, Nyaklyaeu was offered to write a final to the "Ears of Rye under Thy Sickle". He refused.

The politicians sincerely confess - there is nothing left but to call Kastus again for struggle for Belarus.

Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu: "As there is an obvious de-Belarusization going on at the moment, we must do our best to slow this process down, to stop it and then to turn it back".

Alyaksandr Milinkevich supports his colleague.

Alyaksandr Milinkevich: "Return of such figures is our great obligation, especially before the younger generations. The older generation knows the history more or less - those who wanted to know it. And now it is a very difficult time - conformists are growing up".

The year of Kalinouski will last since autumn 2012 till the end of 2013. In addition to the above, the politicians expressed their hope that the figure of Kalinouski will not only steer up the Belarusian but will also facilitate unity of the opposition. Probably, he will manage to do this.
