Store mannequins spy on European customers
Special cameras are installed in the mannequins eyes to gather information about customers' impressions about clothes collections.
The Eyesee mannequins are supplied to European countries by the Italian company Almax. The camera reveals details about shoppers such as age range, gender and race. The information is then analyzed to find out customers' preferences, wyborcza.pl reports.
One shop has found out that their main morning customers are children, the other one - that it is popular with Asians. The former shop is rebuilding to be suitable for children and the latter is hiring Chinese shop assistants.
Marketing analysts have approved the innovation. But human rights activists think that the spying is illegal and is getting more and more common.
The mannequins cost 5 thousand dollars and are installed in three European states and the USA. They can be found in five chains including Benetton. The companies have not commented on the information yet.
