Second student summoned to court over protest

Belarus State University philology student Hleb Vakul was summoned to court after the Students' March on charges of 'violating the order during a mass action.' Here is what Vaikul had to say to Euroradio.

Hleb Vaikul: "This is weird. They accuse me of violating the order during a mass event, because I was waving a white-red-whote band. When at the protest, police officers started to draw a report on me when I started to shout "Rector, come out!".

The trial wll take place on December 30 at 15.30 in Minsk's Maskouski District Court. Two days before, the same court ruled to sentence another activist Pavel Siarhei to a Br4.5 million for taking part in the Students' March.

Dozens students call BSY rector 'on carpet'

Euroradio reported earlier that the unauthorized protest titled Students' March took place on December 2 in Minsk. During the rally, youngsters demanded that the university administration allow them to take part in running the unversity and abolish the re-examination fees. Nearly 100 participants attended the protest.
