Venezuelan oil-tanker is being unloaded in Klaipeda

An oil tanker with Venezuelan oil for Belarus arrived to the sea port of Klaipeda. This is an experimental lot of oil, shipped to this seaport. There are no agreements for further oil shipments with the Belarusian side.
According to BelaPAN, unloading of the oil tanker is to begin in the morning. Approximately 80 thousand tons of oil will be loaded first into reservoires, then into cisterns, which will be transported via train to the oil processing plant "Naftan" in Navapolatsk.

Let us remind you that the agreement on shipment of oil from Venezuela to Belarus was signed in March 2010. 4 million tons of raw material should be shipped by April 2011. Shipments have started in May and are conducted mostly through the sea-port in Adesa (Ukraine), from which the oil is transported via train to Mazyr Oil Processing Plant. In July, also in the experimental format, the oil-tanker from Venezuela came to Estonian sea-port Muuga. This lot was sent to "Naftan" for processing.

Specialists state that the route of oil transporting from the Baltic States to Navapolatsk via train is much shorter than from the Ukraine to Mazyr.
