Lukashenka awards pilots who helped detain Georgian ‘hijacker’
The Belarusian President has awarded 93 people working in different spheres today.
The crew of the plane Georgian citizen Gela Sakhelashvili was detained on were also awarded. The highjacking attempt of a Kutaisi-Minsk plane was reported on June 10. Georgian Gela Sakhelashvili wrote a note to the crew and demanded to land at one of the European Union’s airports. The pilots landed the plane in Minsk. ‘The air terrorist’ surrendered after negotiations with special troops.
Captain of the CRJ-100 plane Alyaksandr Bukreyeu received a medal for bravery. Flight attendant Alena Murzak received the same medal, the Belarusian President’s press service reports.
