Observer Leanid Kulakou jailed for 3 days
Observer of the independent edition Right of Choice Leanid Kulakou has been jailed for 3 days, Dzima Kantarovich wrote on Facebook.
Kulakou was detained after the parliamentary election on September 11. He was an observer at polling station #626 in Minsk Kalinouskaya constituency #108. He was photographing facts of election malpractices on his phone, human rights defenders say. Leanid Kulakou managed to report that the election committee chairperson had whispered one number of votes won by Yury Hubarevich (deputy head of the Movement For Freedom) but had written a different number in the protocol. He expressed his indignation.
Kulakou’s colleague Maya Navumava has also been detained. Nothing is known about her at the moment, Kantarovich noted. The reason for Leanid Kulakou’s imprisonment is unknown either.
