$300 fine for Freedom Day action
Activist of the Movement for Freedom Yan Melnikua has been accused of organization and participation in an unauthorized picket.
Minsk Soviet District Court has fined him for 2 million 200 thousand roubles. Yan Melnikau took a white-red-white flag and congratulated passers-by on the anniversary of the creation of the BNR – March 25, 1918. He did it in Yakub Kolas Square on Freedom Day.
Judge Aksana Relyayeva did not satisfy the activist’s appeal to conduct the hearing in Belarusian, Radio Liberty notes.
