President's newspaper rushes to buy a Toyota Camry
A Toyota Camry in the simplest configuration costs about Br 260 million (Eur 23K) in official salerooms
The presidential administration's newspaper Sovietskaya Byelorussia
has published an advert on the website for state-sponsored procurements seeking to buy a Toyota Camry or a similar car. Car dealers in Belarus offer this car in the simplest
configuration for EUR23K. The most
expensive configuration costs EUR36K.
The newspaper editor's office keeps silence with regard to the purpose of
buying such a car. They are just saying the car will be purchased for private money with no comments.
The editor's office is aware of the EUR25K limit for official
cars, set by the President, but they remind the edict is yet to come into force.
