Yanukovich: Crimea should stay in Ukraine
The Ukrainian ex-President said it at a press conference in Rostov-on-Don.
He thinks that the events in Crimea are an adequate response to the events in Kiev: “Crimeans do not want to be ruled by nationalists… I can understand their desire to create self-defence groups to protect their houses and families.”
"I want to ask Crimeans to avoid bloodshed… I think that Crimea should stay in Ukraine,” Victor Yanukovich said.
Military operations in Crimea are inadmissible, he said: “I am not going to ask for military support.”
Yanukovich is going to return to Ukraine when his and his family’s safety is guaranteed.
