Members of Free Trade Union continue hunger strike in Babruisk
The workers went on a hunger strike after being sacked illegally from the local tractor spares parts plant.
Members of the Free Trade Union Mikalai Zhybul, Aleh Shauchenka, Alyaksandr Varankin and Alyaksandr Hramyka continue their hunger strike in Babruisk. Mikalai Zhybul told Euroradio about the aim of the action:
"We want to work. It was not fair, we believe. We were fired only because we are members of an independent trade union.”
Activists went on their hunger strike in the building of the City Executive Committee. They were made to leave twice. They were even threatened with an administrative arrest ‘for an unauthorized action’.
The hunger strike will last for two days, the workers said.
