The only good news for Belarus was the inclusion of Hrodna State Medical University and VSTU in the list of candidate universities in the ranking.
Currently, 8 Belarusian universities have this status: BSUIR, BSMU, HomSMU, Hrodna State University named after Yanka Kupala, HSU named after F. Skaryna and the University of Civil Defense of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
And what about the neighbors?
This year, Russia's Moscow State University lost 12 places, dropped out of the TOP-100 and now occupies 107th place.
The best university in Poland unexpectedly became the Medical University of Wroclaw, which overtook the traditional leaders from Warsaw and Krakow in one year.
Universities in Uzbekistan made a noticeable breakthrough: three universities from this country entered the ranking, and the best of them was placed in a solid group of 601-800.
The only country that did not appear in the ranking at all was Tajikistan.
If we put together the top ten universities from the post-Soviet countries + Poland, there are 7 from Russia and one each from Estonia, Poland and Kazakhstan.
The top 3 universities in the world are Oxford, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.
