16:30 Sidorski to sell enterprises for big money
Efficient state-owned enterprises will be sold for real value, not for pennies, Belarus Prime Minister Siargej Sidorski said in a statement.
The Russian press yesterday reported about the plans of the Belarusian government to privitize major industrial enterprises in this country. The Belarus officials voiced their comments only today.
According to Sidorski, the Belarus government will discuss the sale of the Babrujsk-based Belshina tyre factory, which is preliminary valued at $1 billion. The prime minister would not elaborate about the other enterprises.
