All BATE T-shirts and scarves are piracy
As ERB has found out, BATE T-shirts, scarves and other symbols of the club are illegally produced somewhere in… Moscow. The administration of the Belarusian team overlooks it as the club does not produce any images of the organization now. “There are no officials images of BATE printed now, - said the press secretary of the Barysau club Dzyanis Sarokin in an interview with ERB. – Everything sold in Barysau and Minsk markets is created by enthusiasts who produce the images themselves. To tell the truth, it is piracy as the club has never given any license for the products”.
Blue and yellow BATE T-shirts are available for about 30 thousand roubles. Scarves can be purchased for 20 thousands. An ERB reporter visited a Minsk market “Dynama”. According to an entrepreneur Natallya, BATE T-shirts appeared when the club made it to the Champions League.
Entrepreneur: “We bring them from Moscow. They are sewn there. However, there is no incredible demand for BATE’s images. We sell one or two T-shirts a day. Images of foreign clubs are not very popular either. People buy T-shirts of English clubs more often – “Liverpool”, “Chelsea” and “Manchester United”.
One or two T-shirts a day in one shop during the wintertime is a good sign. Furthermore, most T-shirts and other symbols are usually sold before matches. Even English fans who attended the match against Belarus national team bought Barysau club’s T-shirts as souvenirs.
Meanwhile, the quality of BATE T-shirts costing 30 thousands leaves much to be desired. A normal T-shirt brought from Moscow costs 50 thousands. Entrepreneurs do not lower the price. Interestingly, numbers and players’ names are not printed on those T-shirts. Maybe Moscow producers of BATE T-shirts have not learned the names of Belarusian players yet.
Why doesn’t the club produce its own T-shirts? According to Dzyanis Sarokin, an original BATE T-shirt would cost 50 dollars and many people can’t afford it.
Dzyanіs Sarokіn: “The club does not want to sell synthetic T-shirts. We would like to sell original T-shirts like all normal clubs do. For example, an original T-shirt worn by, say, Vital Radzivonau, would be available for amateurs. However, the copy of such an “Adidas” T-shirt costs 50 dollars”.
As the club does not produce anything, it does not want to create obstacles to the people who do it. However, if official BATE products appear, the club will start fighting piracy. By the way, ERB has found out that the club has launched a product research to study … the customer demand.
