Andrei Aramnau lifts 30 tons per training session (Photo, video)
The Belarusian weight-lifter is going to set three new records at the European championship. ERB has visited the athlete’s training session before the competition.
ERB: How much do you lift during a training session?
Andrei Aramnau: Well, on the whole I can lift up to 30 tons, you can get a lot of kilos if you sum up all the attempts.
ERB: 30 tons in 1 hour and a half?!
Andrei Aramnau: I usually train for 1.5-2 hours. But this is not a rule. I can limit it sometimes – however, I never lift less than 10 tons per a training session!
ERB: Andrei, does it mean that you could be the most valuable worker if you unloaded trains?
Andrei Aramnau: It doesn’t! I can lift and put down a lot. But I cannot take something and drag it. Sometimes I get tired bringing shopping bags home – your arms get tired because you spend a lot of energy on little weight.
ERB: What is the most important thing for a champion – technique, diet or natural strength?
Andrei Aramnau: The most important thing is your desire. You aren’t born a champion but you can become one. The most important thing is your work. And of cause there is the factor of “being gifted”. Sport is very hard work.
ERB: Does your physical strength help you in your life?
Andrei Aramnau: Of course I would feel different if I were weak. I feel sure of myself.
ERB: Does strength mean confidence and serenity?
Andrei Aramnau: Sure.
ERB: Can you tell us how much are you going to lift at the European championship?
Andrei Aramnau: At first, I will try to perform well. The rest is God’s will. I think there should be three world records.
Attention! 180 kilos – and this is only a training session!
If somebody thinks that weightlifting is all about weight and dumbbells and that there is no humor in it they are mistaken. You can always hear music and friends’ jokes in the sports complex “Staiki” near Minsk. The athlete from Barysau trains there. Andrei Aramnau has told that his colleagues often joke about his unusual strength.
Andrei Aramnau: “My mother works at “Medication”. Everyone says this is the reason why I am so strong. You know the story about Obelix falling into a tub? They say I fell in some vitaminous solution at my mother’s work. Of course it is only a joke. In fact, this is hard work”.
Andrei Aramnau lifts the weight especially for ERB!
A moment of glory again – an ERB journalist helps Aramnau lift almost two centners of iron!
