Andrei Sannikau celebrates birthday in prison
Andrei Sannikau, former presidential candidate and leader of the “European Belarus” campaign, celebrates his birthday on March 8. He has turned 57.
The politician is celebrating his birthday in KGB detention because he is accused of the organization of the mass protest action of democratic forces in Minsk on December 19.
The politician’s wife Iryna Halip is also under examination but her measure of restraint was changed to house arrest.
KGB prisoner refused to accept a parcel for Andrei Sannikau on the eve of his birthday and Minsk City Bar “made another present” to the political prisoner – it disbarred his lawyer Pavel Sapelka, informs Radio Liberty.
