Baranavichy activist stands trial for picket in support of Karatkevich
Baranavichy activist Ryhor Hryk is standing trial for organizing a pre-election picket in support of Tatstsyana Karatkevich. The picket was held on September 27, head of Brest Province affiliate of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) Ihar Maslouski said.
Maslouski was Tatstsyana Karatkevich’s accredited representative during the election campaign. He reported the intention to hold eth picket to the city authorities. However, activist visit Hryk was accused of organizing an unauthorized event, Maslouski found out later.
Maslouski was a witness in Baranavichy District Court on October 27. Pickets in support of presidential candidates without their accredited representatives were held all over Brest Province, he said. However, Baranavichy is the only city where a picketer is standing trial now.
The trial will continue on October 28.
