Belarus and Iran sign contract on oil field development
Belarus and Iran have signed a contract concerning the development of the Jafeir oil field. The announcement has been distributed by the Ministry of Oil of Iran.
According to the contract, the oil field will be developed by a state company “Belarusnafta”. The project costs 450 million dollars and consists of two stages. It is planned to get about 40 thousand barrels of oil per day.
The provisions of the contract are to be fulfilled during the next two years. Let us remind you that an agreement on cooperation of the two countries in the development of the oil field was reached during an official visit of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Belarus.
Both countries agreed on cooperation in the oil and gas industry. The agreement supposes creation of oil processing enterprises, development of oil and gas fields and construction of underground oil storages in Iran with the help of Belarus.
