Belarus budget to get $3.7 billion from privatization in 2008
The national budget of Belarus will receive Br8 billion from privatization in 2008. This does not include the sale of Beltransgaz's shares, the Belarus's Ministry of Finance said. Gazprom, Russia's energy giant, is expected to wire $625 million as another installment for 12.5 percent of Beltransgaz shares. This will allow the Russian company to control 25 percent of the shares in Belarus's strategic gas operator, reports the official news agency Belta.
