Belarus' chief ideology officer denies plan to control Internet

Yancheuski, the Belarusian president's aide for ideology, denied reports that
the government plans to impose restrictions on the Internet.
"The
Internet is and will be free in Belarus,
there is no reason for hysteria," he said commenting on media freedom
advocates' fears in connection with a new Media Law that passed the National
Assembly this summer.
He said
that the government relies on persuasion and truth in its ideological
practices.
