Belarusian Christian Democracy urges people not to drink at cemeteries
The party's steering committee came up with an appeal to limit using alcohol on the Day of Rejoicing.
One of the committee's leaders Dzyanis Sadouski has told the following to Euroradio:
"This is a call to Belarusians, to Christians, so that they do not dedicate the day of the ancestors' memory to alcohol instead. It is better to devote this day to our families - the people who are here beside us and those who passed away."
The Belarusian Christian Democracy appeals to make cemeteries an "alcohol-free zone". Sadouski says that it is important that the Orthodox Church should state its position firmly in this regard as the majority of believers in our country are Orthodox.
