Competition for Belarus parliament: 4.5 persons per seat
As of July 14, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered 445 nominating groups of potential candidates, making it on average 4.5 persons competing for one seat in the House of Representatives, CEC Chairwoman Lidziya Yarmoshyna said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel.
The constituency and territorial election commissions have been tasked to execute the OSCE recommendations that were received after the 2015 presidential elections, she stressed.
The complaints that CEC gets "prove the excessive ambitions due to the lack of knowledge of electoral laws and the habit to get something better than the others," said Yarmoshyna.
