Election commission chairwoman objects to combining local and presidential elections
Lidzia Yarmoshyna, the chairperson of the Central Elections Commission, has proposed not to combine the local and presidential elections. She reckons that holding the both polls on the same day will not allow to save a lot of money ($3.3. million).
However, the parliament and the president will have a final say on this issue, she noted.
The local elections will have to take place not later than December 12, 2010, and the presidential elections -- not later than February 6, 2011.
