Elections: Opposition candidate pressed through mother in Masty

Authorities in Masty, Hrodna Region, have apparently decided to put pressure on Natallia Kastsyukova, a candidate from the Belarusian Christian Democracy for a seat in the district council, through her mother. For two days in a row, Natallia's mother who works at a local furniture factory, was summoned by Ivan Bilida, factory's ideology administrator. He said if Natallia did not withdraw, she would spoil her reputation forever. He also said Natallia should stay away from opposition politics and should rather work quietly. Natallia Kastyukova works at the same factory.

Nevertheless, she has decided to continue her campaign. On March 25, she was registered as a candidate for the local council.
