Government to control foreign toys, games

The Belarus government is to establish a council of experts to decide whether toys meet the requirements of psychological health of children.

The council is expected to control the toys and games produced both domestically and abroad. The toys or games, bearing the features of violence and cruelty or degrading the human dignity and instigating aggression, would not be approved for use in this country, according to the draft resolution.

Belarus Education Minister Aliaksandr Radzkou also noted that only 13 percent of the toys at the domestic market were Belarus-made. 60 percent of the market has been occupied by the Chinese-made toys.

In the view of the specialists, the Chinese toys are often sold to Russia, disguised as Belarus-made toys.
