Inflation hovers around 2 percent in January
Inflation made it around 2 percent in Belarus in January 2008, said Belarus Statistics Minister Uladzimir Zinouski. The inflation level in January was mostly influenced by the growth of utilities costs, foodstuff prices and other factors, according to the minister.
The level of inflation in Belarus in 2008 is planned not to exceed 6-8 percent. The government's target in 2007 was 6-8 percent, but the actual rate of inflation was 12.1 percent. It was the worst performance since 2004 when inflation reached 14.4 percent, reports Interfax.
