Lukashenka: “nothing depends on Belarus” in creation of union state with Russia
“Nothing depends on Belarus” in creation of the union state with Russia. The announcement was made by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at the meeting with a delegation from Siberia Federal District of the Russian Federation.
The President stressed that Belarus was ready for a serious union with Russia. “We need to find a way out of the current situation, <…> and start building up a union that would be an example of the way people should live and work”, - quotes the information agency “BelaPAN”.
The agency RIA “Novosti” reports: Lukashenka confirmed that Belarus was not going to become part of Russia. According to him the position of Belarus means that Belarus will not become part of some other state.
“Even if Americans suggested that we should become a 51st or a 55th state we would never do it. We do not want to be part of Poland or part of the Russian Federation or Lithuania. We do not need it and it could even do harm, like, for example, it could lead to a new Chechnya in the west of Russia”, - quotes “Charter-97”.
