Lukashenka says graduates should be grateful for mandatory assignments

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenka sain on Friday during the national ball of university graduates that "mandatory job assignments that many do not like should be appreciated today, because it protects graduates in the first place". "In the future, university graduates will be convinced even more that the first working place is an asset", the president noted.

Under the mandatory job assignment procedure, young professionals must work for two years. Graduates are often assigned to remote depressed areas, where experienced professionals do not wish to work in the unfavorable economic and environmental conditions.
