More than a thousand Horki inhabitants are against the construction of nuclear power plant
Collection of signatures against the construction of a nuclear power plant continues in Horki District of Mahileu Region.
Let us remind you that one of the probable building sites for the Belarusian nuclear power plant is situated in this district. Horki activists organized an information campaign among the population and started collecting signatures at the end of 2007.
The press secretary of the antinuclear group, an activist from Horki Eduard Brokarau told ERB the latest news about the campaign:
“We have reached a physiologically significant number – 1009 signatures. We are preparing them and will send them to the President’s Administration and the Parliament. We collected them only in the town of Horki, we haven’t done it in villages yet”.
Students of Horki Academy will join the action after vacations, says Brokarau. An antinuclear forum that activists from Horki will participate in will take place in Minsk tomorrow. They will demonstrate a video displaying the work of the antinuclear group. A record-breaker, pensioner Halina Miksha who collected the biggest amount of signatures -277, will also come to the capital with the group.
