NATO prepares special plan of Baltic States defence
NATO is preparing a special plan of defence for the Baltic States, noted the Latvian Minister of Defence Imants Lieģis in a programme of the Latvian Radio “Krustpunkt”. According to him, they have received “signals” about the elaboration of such a plan from US representatives.
The Minister was asked if NATO considered Russia a threat to security and replied: “It looks like neither NATO nor the European Union considers Russia a threat. At the same time, we have learned the lesson of the last year’s conflict between Russia and Georgia”.
Lieģis has also added that “the Russian notion of friendship differs from they way we understand it”.
