Orange revolution methods work no more
The Supreme Council of Ukraine accused Victor Yushchenko of leading the country to a legal chaos. At the same time Victor Yushchenko is not going to cancel his decision to dismiss the Council and organize early elections. Anton Semіzhenka depicts the situation in Kiev: Six thousand people arrived in Kiev on Thursday to participate in meetings in support of the ruling coalition.
The majority of them travelled together in special buses and trains. There are people holding flags of the Regions, Socialist and Communist Parties at Independence Square and near the Central Election Commission office. A lot of people are in Mariinski Park opposite the building of the Supreme Council.
But there are no people supporting Yulia Tsimoshenko and “Nasha Ukraina” in the streets because the leaders of these political movements asked people not to do it to avoid any provocation and because they did not think it was necessary to prove anything.
The atmosphere in the Ukrainian capital does not resemble the atmosphere of 2004 in spite of the fact that politicians are trying to copy the methods of camps created by organizers of the Orange Revolution.
Now those methods have some peculiarities.
People are sceptical, the majority of them arrived because they were given transport and an opportunity to go to Kiev and they agreed.
They are living according to a timetable: call-over in the morning, then tidying up, dinner and meeting.
Ostentatious revolutionary character is felt only in Parliament and the cabinet. Victor Yanukovich turned to international organizations asking to help him solve the problem. He is against early elections.
The Minister of Transport Nicolai Rudkovskij decided to retire on April 3.
He can often be seen at the camp site now.
When he was asked why buses with demonstrators were heading Kiev he said he did not know anything.
The incident at Pechorski Court of Kiev can depict the current situation. The case about returning credentials to the Central Election Commission disbanded at the beginning of the week was considered there.
The head of the court Vladimir Kolesnichenko (with body-guards) dismissed by the President at the beginning of the week sneaked into the cabinet of the deputy head of court and took the seal of court to stamp documents he had brought there.
Body-guards did not react to it in any way.
The Ukrainian President’s administration called it a seizure of Pechorski Court.
The Prime Minister said that people were simply driven over the edge. He explained that Kolesnichenko was head of court at that moment and his appeal was upheld.
The conflict was settled when the President cancelled his decision to appoint Kolesnichenko head of court. The concern of the dismissed Central Election Commission is being lobbied by the parliamentary coalition headed by Victor Yanukovich.
At the same time administrations of Herson, Odessa and Donetsk Regions have started getting ready for the early elections.
The Central Election Commission has announced that the election campaign is already in progress.
