Pension IDs to be enough to vote on December 19
The Central Election Commission has greatly expanded the list of documents that can be presented to get a ballot in election centres on December 19. The list includes passports and military cards as well as a number of other IDs, informed a CEC member Nadzeya Kisyalyova: "A state employee's ID, pension ID, student’s ID with a photo, a reference from Departments of Internal Affairs for citizens who have lost their passports.
At the same time, the CEC noted that ballots could be given out to citizens presenting the mentioned documents on the basis of the list of citizens having the right to vote”.
It means that the action “Hide your granny’s passport – save the state!” has failed: you will also have to hide her pension ID... Yury Hadyka present at the CEC meeting noted that the number of documents allowing people to get a ballot was much bigger than the number of documents needed to give a signature in support of a candidate. CEC members replied:
"If a citizen presents a student’s ID and if he or she is not included on the list of electors – they will not be able to get a ballot. In fact, electors will receive ballots only if they present documents proving that they live on the territory of the election district.
It was necessary to confirm citizenship during the collection of signatures. But it is already confirmed at the election – it was done when lists of electors were drawn up”.
