President's decree on driving school fees comes into force

The long-awaited decree, allowing driving schools to liberalize their fees, has been officially published in the national legislation register. This means the decree has come into effect. But the schools cannot set their new fees yet, while admission of trainees is suspended.

According to a staff from the Spetsavtoshkola, they are waiting for the last formality: the publication of a Council of Ministers’ resolution.

“We have suspended submission. It will be resumed in April for the August courses. Today, we continue to quote the old price, because a new fee still needs to be formulated. Although the decree is out, the Council of Ministers has not issued its resolution yet. Therefore, driving schools have to charge the current fees at the moment”.

A resolution of the Council of Ministers will be signed within the next several days, Aliaksai Auramenka, a legal counsel at the Council of Ministers, told the European Radio for Belarus.

“In the framework of the presidential decree’s implementation, the government has passed a resolution, abolishing the previously fixed fees for driving schools. This resolution, approved on March 19, will come into effect since the moment of publication. It will be publicized within the next couple of days”.

The documents is considered to be officially published in the following editions: the bulletin of the National Register of Legislation (and its electronic version on the web site www.pravo.by) , newspapers Sovietskaya Belorussia, Zviazda, Respublika and Narodnaya Gazeta.

Under the new decree, some driving schools will be able to raise their fees up to Br 1.5 million ($750).
